Martian Bacteria? A headline in TIME magazine a few weeks ago was "Could Martian Bacteria Have Seeded Earth?" The article explains how life began from a "martian bacteria" that was a passenger aboard the meteorite from Mars that landed on earth. Hence, becoming the seed for every organism that ever populated the new planet including, eons later , the human species itself. Here's the clincher: "In which case, modern humans never have to contemplate meeting Martians again because we are the Martians ."
